ABOUT CARE CREATES COMPUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

About Care, a non-profit organization serving the Chandler and Gilbert areas, is creating a new service program – its Computer Assistance Program. This new program would be bringing the outside world to the elderly and disabled homebound, of Chandler and Gilbert, one computer at a time. The program consists of the following:  teaching basic email and internet skills, ongoing training, and we will provide the computer and internet connection if needed.  The program will be free of charge.

About Care is currently asking for help in creating this program.  We are searching for donated slightly used computer equipment – including hardware and software.  Sponsorships for the program or donations are welcome.  As most of us cannot go a day without using a computer, just think how this program will be able to open the lives of our homebound neighbors!  If possible, please help us help others!  About Care plans on launching the service in September, 2010.

About Care provides services to the physically challenged and frail elderly of Chandler and Gilbert About Care provides services to the physically challenged and frail elderly of Chandler and Gilbert.  The majority of requests for services are for transportation to medical or other important appointments. About Care also offers weekly shopping and errands, respite, reassurance phone calls, and minor home repairs.  About Care was founded in 2005 because of the growing need for these services in our community.

The services are provided without charge by trained and insured volunteers.  About Care is looking for volunteers with big hearts who really want to help others. For more information or to obtain a volunteer application, visit www.aboutcare.org. The About Care volunteers do “small things with great love” and are compassionate, caring individuals who want to make a difference in someone’s life by offering their time.

Small business Organization Hosts The State Candidates

GSBA 2010 Statesmen’s Tour

Through their Gilbert Small Business Alliance, 471 small businesses bring to the East Valley a series of candidate forums on selected Wednesday nights.  Their 2010 Statesmen’s Tour is held at Warren’s Jazz Bistro (1451 E. Williams Field Rd) in Gilbert, AZ from 5:30 to7:00 pm.  The first “Tour” date is Wednesday June 23rd with more to follow.  The “Statesmen’s Tour” offers the opportunity to relax in a casual atmosphere and have a bite to eat if you like while meeting the candidates and educating yourself on the issues facing us in the upcoming elections.  Be assured the candidates will be on and off the stump promptly, as Warren’s jazz band will be performing on stage at 7:30 for those who wish to stay and interact with candidates.  Warren’s Jazz Bistro is a local small business gem located at the southwest corner of Val Vista and Williams Field Road in Gilbert, AZ.  Warren’s provides a unique atmosphere and refreshing unique style for the Statesmen’s Tour.

Another part of the Statesmen’s Tour, is a dedicated section of the GSBA website where information from each of the many candidates for public office is posted.  This provides the public a one stop introduction to each candidate, and it provides the State candidates with the opportunity to include any information they find relevant to the small business community.  http://www.gilbertsba.com/news/statemens-tour/ The GSBA is giving extra focus on the Legislative District 22 State House of Representatives race and plans to offer an endorsement of two candidates for that office.  The GSBA membership believes that an important part of advocating for small businesses is providing exposure, education and endorsement of local candidates. The GSBA’s State Election Committee is committed to keeping its membership up to date on the issues that matter to small business and offering support for candidates that recognize the importance of these issues.

The Statesmen’s Tour offers the opportunity for all small business entrepreneurs and other members of the public to mingle with the candidates running in the 2010 State election.  Learn about the candidate’s vision for Arizona and the role that small business will play. Ask about positions that matter to you and impact your business, and learn more about the Alliance endorsement process.

The Gilbert Small Business Alliance is founded by Gilbert small business owners. We are united by -our passion to empower, to advocate, and to build the success of small businesses in Gilbert.

  • Our Vision: Create a successful and sustainable small business environment.
  • Our Mission: Empower and advocate for our Alliance Partners by providing a voice and resources at the local level.
We are a registered non-profit corporation.  We have applied for 501(c)(6) status

Contreras and Ortiz along with their colleagues were confronted with a growing concern for the safety of their family in Mexico City, where kidnappings have become commonplace. Their convictions to provide a safe environment for families led them to leave a successful global business career and become entrepreneurs in America. Passionate for family safety, fun, and education, Family Time was conceived and opened in March of 2008 in Gilbert, Arizona.
