Felecia Rotellini:

Arizona’s Lawyer, Advocate and Voice.
Arizonans deserve to be protected from criminals, whether they carry guns or briefcases. As Arizona’s Attorney General, I will fight to keep our citizens safe in their homes, protect their finances and businesses, and make sure the state respects and protects their interests. I pledge to continue to:

  • Crack down on financial fraud, drug dealers and human smugglers;
  • Protect the elderly, children and our most vulnerable;
  • Fight for consumer, environmental and civil rights.

The Attorney General is the state’s top law enforcer. Through my service as an Assistant Attorney General and as Superintendent of the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions, I have a 17-year record of enforcing the law fairly without regard for how powerful or connected a person or company may be perceived. I’ve worked to reform the mortgage industry so that Arizona will avoid a similar financial crisis in the future, and I’ll use those same skills as Attorney General.

Certainly there will be political controversies; that comes with the job. Yet, the Attorney General has a responsibility to set aside political ambitions and follow the law, and that is what I will do. My office will always be honest about the facts and the law, and I will always act in the best interest of our state.

Stewardship of the public trust is serious business. My job as Attorney General is to ensure that public dollars – throughout state government – are spent properly and that agencies are held accountable for the decisions they make. I will work to make government run smoothly and effectively for all Arizonans.

Protecting and serving the citizens of Arizona has been my life’s work and passion – that is my record; that is why I am the best choice for Attorney General. I will be Arizona’s lawyer, advocate and voice.

ABOUT FELECIA ROTELLINI
FELECIA ROTELLINI is a veteran prosecutor and consumer advocate with over 23 years of experience in private and public law. Although best known for her work as the lead litigator for the State on the massive Baptist Foundation of Arizona case, she has earned a reputation as a tough but fair financial watchdog and prosecutor.

In 1992, after six years in private practice as a trial attorney, Felecia joined the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, serving under Grant Woods, Janet Napolitano and Terry Goddard. She worked in both the Civil and Criminal Divisions, prosecuting complex real estate and financial fraud in state and federal courts in Arizona and California. Known for her willingness to take on “Goliath” companies and defendants, she earned a reputation as a tireless advocate and a voice for victims of consumer and financial fraud.

Starting in 1999, Felecia was the State’s lead litigator in its investigation of Arthur Andersen over the former accounting giant’s services to Baptist Foundation of Arizona (BFA).  The case resulted in returning $217 million to investors swindled in a complex Ponzi scheme. In addition, during her 13 years in the Attorney General’s Office, she secured over $3 million in fines and two published legal opinions favoring the State.

In 2006, Governor Napolitano appointed her Superintendent of the State Banking Department, now the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). Felecia quickly recognized that the developing crisis in home mortgage lending posed a great threat to Arizona. She beefed up enforcement and worked to make loan officers who work with consumers responsible for what they say and do. Despite the lobbying efforts of national companies and Wall Street, Felecia worked diligently with the Legislature and leaders in the mortgage industry to pass a law requiring licensing of mortgage loan officers, closing one of the biggest loopholes in mortgage banking.

In 2009, Felecia received the “Excellence in Cooperative Law Enforcement” Award from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for DFI’s participation in “Operation Cash Back,” which indicted 36 individuals on mortgage fraud charges. Partnering with federal officials, she formed the Mortgage Fraud Task Force that united regulatory agencies and city, state and federal law enforcement— marking the first time the FBI has invited a state regulator to participate in an FBI task force.

In late August 2009, she resigned her post as Superintendent to join the Phoenix law firm of Zwillinger Greek Zwillinger & Knecht PC. Felecia grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming and graduated magna cum laude from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. She has lived in Arizona since her graduation from Notre Dame Law School in 1986. She is a member of the Arizona and Wyoming State Bars. From 1990 to 2002, she was a trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Foundation, serving two terms as president.
